Chemonics International Inc, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks the following long-term positions for the USAID Next Generation Early Grade Reading Activity (NextGen) in Malawi. The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools. The $75 million activity aims to solidify and build on the contributions made to date as part of the implementation of Malawi’s National Reading Program (NRP) towards improving the delivery of high-quality early primary reading instruction in all Malawian primary schools. Translators
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Professional Translators will support NextGen to translate from Ministry of Education teaching and learning materials from English to Chichewa, Chitumbuka, Sena, Yao, Tonga and vice versa.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation or a related field.
- Experience translating learning and teaching materials for government programmes and USAID early grade reading programs.
- Demonstrated excellence in the use of written Chichewa, Chitumbuka, Sena, Yao, Tonga.
- Strong background in use of Chichewa educational materials.
