Training Programs Specialist – Informal at Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVETA)

TEVETA

The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) Authority is a regulatory body that was established in 1999 by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to regulate, facilitate and promote TEVETin Malawi. Apart from the Secretariat in Lilongwe, the Authority has three regional service centres in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre.

Employment opportunities have now risen within the Authority for various positions for which the Authority invites applications from qualified candidates.

TRAINING PROGRAMS SPECIALIST – INFORMAL
The Training Program Specialist – Informal, will regulate, promote and facilitate TEVET for the informal sector through master craft persons.

KEY DUTIES

a) Annual plans and budgets and reporting

  • Participate in the preparation, formulation and implementation of weekly, monthly, quarterly budgets and work plans for Mastercraft persons.
  • Report progress for the Mastercraft Interventions in the Region

b) Training delivery

  • Facilitate training delivery through master craft persons
  • Provide technical advice on the management of Informal Sector Training Providers Associations (ISTIPAs)
  • Facilitate identification of trainees for progression (bridging programmes) from informal to formal apprenticeship
  • Facilitate implementation of projects and partnership programmes
  • Facilitate practical entrepreneurship training to trainees
  • Facilitate implementation of external verification
  • Facilitate access of artisans to Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
  • Identifying and recommending TEVET innovators for promotion

c) Needs Assessment

  • Conduct regular needs assessments within the informal sector to identify skill gaps and training requirements.
  • Gather feedback from participants to continually refine and improve training programs.

d) Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor training interventions and recommend areas of improvement
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to assess the impact of training programs.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness and of training initiatives.

e) Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with communities and local organizations in the informal sector.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure training programs align with the unique challenges and opportunities of the informal economy

REPORTING

Reporting to the Senior Training Programs Specialist (South)

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, particularly for the informal sector.
  • Understanding of the challenges and dynamics of the informal economy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Technical, Humanities, Science) Social Sciences, Development studies, Political Science or other related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
