ICRISAT seeks applications for a member of the CIMMYT Global Maize Program (GMP) team in ICRISAT Malawi center, the incumbent will work closely with the CIMMYT Maize Seed Systems Specialist for Southern Africa to manage a portfolio of CIMMYT-GMP work in Malawi. Serving as the main point of contact for the small CIMMYT staff contingent hosted at the ICRISAT campus in Malawi, the Research Associate will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Project Management and Administration
- Provide project management and administration support for the DeSIRA project and as needed/assigned for other CIMMYT projects implemented in Malawi, in close coordination with relevant administrative teams of CIMMYT and ICRISAT.
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of required technical reports to the donor, including but not limited to annual results reports, quarterly reports, evaluations, and special reports, in coordination with project technical staff to ensure the content reviews are undertaken as appropriate.
- Support work plan development and execution including, but not limited to, monitoring and evaluation, intervention design, etc.
- Monitor the implementation of the project activities identifying issues and risks, working with the CIMMYT PI to resolve them or escalating them as required.
- Coordinate with CIMMYT Finance Unit and Program Finance Managers as needed on financial reporting ensuring a review of project financial reports prior to donor submission.
- Liaise with ICRISAT procurement personnel to coordinate procurements on behalf of the CIMMYT projects in Malawi, and monitor procurements to ensure compliance and appropriate completion.
- Work with Finance and relevant technical staff to monitor financial spending and troubleshoot and escalate as needed.
- Effectively manage risks and when issues do arise, work with technical staff, local finance staff and HQ finance staff to resolve and/or escalate in timely manner.
- Ensure all donor communications, requests, amendments, etc. are communicated effectively and quickly to PMU.
- Manage CIMMYT assets in line with ICRISAT and CIMMYT policies.
- Support management of CIMMYT human resources in Malawi in line with ICRISAT policies.
- Technical Functions
- Provide technical support for seed systems activities and agronomist in the process of designing, planning, and implementation of trials, demos etc.
- Complete and / or supervise all data entry and submission of the same to PI.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
