Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions tenable at Chikwawa District Council. The applicants must be willing to work in rural areas and subjected to Malawi Public Service Regulations (MPSR) from time
to time.

JOB TITLE: SENIOR ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Grade: J (M7)
Salary: Within the range of Government (Grade J/M7) Salary scale segment
Location: Chikwawa District Council

Duties:-

1. Supervise revenue collection for the council
2. Carry out bank transactions of all council collections
3. Consolidate monthly expenditure returns
4. Coordinate activities of the main accounts and cash office
5. Conduct development accounting transaction
6. Produce monthly reports for all Development and Revenue accounts
7. Participate in preparation of financial statements and production of year-end accounts
8. Supervise accounting staff under his/her charge
9. Any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time

Education Qualification and Experience:

Applicants must be serving Assistant Accountants, Non Established (NE) with a Minimum of four
(4) years’ experience at that grade, and in possession of a Diploma in either Accounting, ACCA
Technician, PAEC, or Business Administration majoring in Accountancy obtained from an accredited
and recognised institution.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

Successful candidates must be willing to be deployed in rural areas.
