NICO Life seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Sales Team Lead – Affluent Market. The position is tenable in Lilongwe. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the successful candidate, who will be accountable for achieving and exceeding the allocated sales targets, generating targeted revenue, and controlling sales expenses, will have the following Key Performance Indicators:

1. Strategy Execution – Involves but not limited to:

a) Directing sales activities and processes that lead to the generation of new business opportunities and the deepening of existent relationships.
b) Translating the business’s market targets and strategies into specific actions for the generation of sales and revenue.
c) Setting goals that drive Sales Agents’ actions and processes, and ensuring that these goals are detailed, realistic, comprehensive, and aligned with the business’s overall objectives.
d) Seeing through the sales vision and goals as well as contributing to the achievement of the business overall goals.

2. Business Growth and Customer Acquisition – This involves:

a) Developing client acquisition models, initiatives, and plans, generating proposals, and implementing customer acquisition plans that increase value to the company.
b) Ensuring that new business acquired by the team does not lapse due to non-payment of premiums, and that the new business acquired will conform with the company’s quality and standards.

3. Analytics – This, amongst others, involves:

a) Conducting comprehensive and in-depth analyses, planning, and implementation for all Sales Agents’ efforts.
b) Reviewing and adjusting the product mix targets, sales territories, and conducting competitive analyses all in an effort to find the business’s strengths and opportunities for capitalization while giving the business a competitive edge.
c) Utilizing relevant databases to gather consumer and market information necessary for conducting analyses and generating accurate and timely results.

4. Relationships / Opportunity/Closing – This involves amongst others:

a) Creation and maintenance of relationships with the business’s consumers, regularly attending sales events and trade shows in order to promote the brand and establish meaningful and lasting relationships with existing consumers and all potential consumers.
b) Identification and closing of new business opportunities.
c) Keeping the business ahead in the market by keeping up with the latest sales, consumer, and market practices.

5. Customer Complaints’ Resolution – Monitoring Customer complaints received from the Customer Experience Call Centre and the Service Centres and ensuring that complaints have been addressed within the agreed SLA.

6. Performance and Management of the Sales Team – Developing the necessary plans to ensure that the Department meets its agreed goals and objectives through the setting of agreed key performance indicators with team members, evaluating and identifying performance strengths and deficiencies and arranging for necessary action, and ensuring administration of fair rewards.

  • A first university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Commerce, or its equivalent from a reputable university.
  • An Advanced Diploma in Marketing (a Chartered Marketer with the CIM or equivalent).
  •  At least four (4) years’ experience two (2) of which must have been in similar role.
