Company Overview:

We are a leading poultry producer in Malawi, operating 4 state-of-the-art cold storage facilities (soon expanding to 6) and a robust export operation across Africa. Our commitment to excellence in refrigerated cold storage and transport ensures top-quality poultry products for our clients. We’re looking for a dynamic Poultry Export Sales Specialist/Manager to join our team and drive growth in African markets. Candidate who had worked or currently working with one of the major Brazilian poultry exporters who has extensive experience and knowledge of the poultry and meat trade in Africa and possibly the middle east is a MUST.

Job Description:

As a Poultry Export Sales Specialist, you will spearhead our export sales strategy across Africa, building and maintaining strong relationships with wholesale traders. You’ll leverage your deep market knowledge and language skills to expand our reach, ensure seamless delivery of high-quality poultry products, and meet ambitious sales targets. This role requires extensive travel and a passion for delivering excellence in the poultry export industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute export sales strategies to grow our poultry business across African markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with wholesale traders, ensuring consistent order fulfilment and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients while meeting company revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with our cold storage and transport teams to ensure product quality (maintained at -25°C) and on-time delivery.
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings across Africa.
  • Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Extensive Experience in Africa: Proven track record in poultry export sales across African markets, with deep understanding of regional trade dynamics.
  • Knowledge of Wholesale Traders: Detailed knowledge of wholesale traders in Africa, including established networks and relationships.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English, French, and Portuguese (additional African languages is a plus).
  • Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of poultry production, cold storage, and export logistics (e.g., maintaining -25°C during transport).
  • Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to close high-value deals and meet sales targets.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel extensively across Africa (up to 50% of the time).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills to build trust with diverse clients.
  • Education: Bachelor/Master’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or related field (preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience).
