An expanding specialty lodge in Blantyre needs suitable persons to fill vacant positions in return for highly competitive remuneration packages as offered within the hospitality industry.

1. Position: LODGE SUPERVISOR:

Duties and responsibilities:

a) Implement business aspirations on the ground as planned by management.
b) Create an environment where customers, are timely and rightly served, honoured leaving with a deep feeling of gratification.
c) Seek customer feedback and attend to their special needs, and bringing them to the manager’s attention to create solutions.
d) Overseeing day-to-day tasks and activities, making sure work colleagues are faithful, punctual and actively working
e) With the manager, train subordinates on important daily duties leading by example.
f) Make sure supplies have arrived in time and resources used according to the budget
g) Ensure all communication and records (financial or otherwise) are accurate at all times.
h) Maintain an updated spruce environment, tidy and well ventilated rooms, efficient power use, and that all amenities are functional at all times throughout all the facility
i) Identify maintenance and repairs needed at the facility and have them fixed.
j) Other related duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in hospitality from a recognised institution with at least two years’ experience

2. Position: HEAD CHEF

Duties and responsibilities

a) Control and direct the food preparation process as offered on the menu.
b) Construct menus with new/existing culinary creations ensuring variety and quality servings.
c) Approving and ‘polishing’ dishes before they reach the customer.
d) Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages
e) Arrange for kitchen repairs or remedy any problems or defects when necessary
f) Be fully in charge of managing and work distribution and training kitchen staff
g) Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
h) Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers

Requirements and skills

i. Proven experience as Head Chef
ii. Exceptional proven ability of kitchen management
iii. Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress
iv. Outstanding communication and leadership skills
v. Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
vi. Conversant with health and safety training

Qualifications and experience:

  • A diploma in the field with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience.

3. Position: ASSISTANT CHEF

Duties and responsibilities

a) Controlling and directing the food preparation process as offered on the menu.
b) Make sure customers are served satisfactory, in all terms
c) Plan orders of equipment or ingredients according to identified shortages
d) Arrange for kitchen repairs or remedy any problems or defects when necessary
e) Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
f) Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers

Requirements and skills

g) Proven ability of kitchen management
h) Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least a certificate in the field with at least a year of direct work experience.

4. Position: WAITERS/WAITRESSES (3)

a) Provide excellent customer services
b) Greet customers and present menus, make suggestions based on their preferences
c) Take and serve food/drinks orders ensuring they are of good quality
d) Up-sell when appropriate
e) Arrange table setting, clean and tidy at all times
f) Deliver checks and collect payments
g) Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff
h) Adhere to all relevant health rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines

Qualifications and experience

  • MSCE, at least a certificate in hospitality,1-year experience and English proficient

5. Position: FRONT OFFICE MANAGER

a) Greet all guests and assist them with check-in and check-out
b) Maintain a positive attitude and friendly demeanor
c) Respond to all guest questions and requests
d) Answer and forward phone calls
e) Manage guest bookings and reservations
f) Keep a tidy and orderly workspace
g) Assist with administrative and clerical tasks as needed

i. Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude even under high pressure
ii. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
iii. Professional attitude and appearance

Qualifications and Experience

  • MSCE, Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other necessary computer programs
  • 2+ years’ experience working in a lodge receptionist or guest services role
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English
