Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization in General
Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters
in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors implements various community development projects within the following sectors; Health, Education, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture and Social Welfare (advocacy for
children’s rights), and other livelihood projects.

Established in 2008, Good Neighbors Malawi has been implementing a range of livelihood and environmental
programs, to foster community support, with a special focus on smallholder farmers. We are currently in search of an experienced Programs Manager who brings a rich background in climate change, environment, agriculture, and livelihoods. This role involves overseeing our dynamic programs, which are actively making a difference across several districts including Dowa, Kasungu, Mchinji, and Lilongwe. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing multifaceted programs and a deep commitment to sustainable community development.

 

4. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all project-related activities in the catchment areas
  • Lead and monitor GNM community development programs, ensuring they progress effectively and align
    with set goals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify gaps and build the capacity of farmers in the project areas by implementing training programs.
  • Organize regular internal and external meetings with stakeholders to plan, implement, and review activities
    in the field.
  • Prepare and submit work plans, progress reports, and other relevant documentation to the Country Director.
  • Coordinate regular project monthly and quarterly reviews in collaboration with fellow managers, Country Director, and local stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and come up with mitigation plans
  • Maintain strict adherence to donor contracts and compliance requirements.
  • Draw up plans, proposals, and budgets for new projects or extensions in conjunction with relevant team members.
  • Monitor and evaluate project activities to ensure that it is meeting its objectives and goals
  • Collaborate with other departments within GNM to enhance inter-team communication and good team dynamics.
  • Provide support and guidance to subordinates, enhancing team capacity and performance.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with other Good Neighbors offices, including the
    headquarters, maintaining timely and responsive interactions.
  • Stay updated with new development approaches both nationally and internationally
  • Participates fully in management committee activities and meetings representing his/her department, and
    takes part in decision making;

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing and developing livelihood projects, preferably supporting
    farmer organizations and cooperatives.
  • Degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Extension, Agronomy, International Development or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, preferably with proficiency in Chichewa.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and database management.
