HEAD OF SALES
Our Client, NICO Life Insurance Company Limited, a leading provider of innovative life insurance solutions, seeks to recruit a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Head of Sales.
The position is tenable in Lilongwe.
The Head of Sales, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, will be responsible for driving Sales and Business Development Division’s growth initiatives, acquisition, and customer support service through developing and implementing broad acquisition plans in line with set strategy, budget, and targets.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: The position’s key accountabilities, include the follows:
1. Sales and Business Development Planning
•Develops, and submits for approval, the Annual Business Plan for the Sales and Business Development Division, based on the Company’s AnnualOperating Plan, by reviewing and incorporating, the following:
▪︎Identification of market segments as informed by marketing data and research.
▪︎Designing and recommending specific acquisition and loyalty schemes.
▪︎Developing and updating activation and promotional programs for the year.
▪︎Developing and updating a systematic approach to engaging specific Customers for sales presentations, pitches on products and services.
•Develops and plans for Marketing activities for the Company including developing drafts and briefs for all marketing activities for the year based on business needs and in line with Group Marketing guidance.
2. Sales and Business Development Growth and Customer Acquisition
•Sets targets, priorities, and service standards to achieve new business acquisition, portfolio expansion, and retention plans.
•Reviews sales models, customer acquisition initiatives, and alignment of delivery channels, and checks that agreed targets are met and takes corrective action where necessary;
•Generates proposals that increase value to the Company products and services through the identification of new products, potential Group synergies, and leveraging off the NICO Group’s products and services capabilities.
•Engages customers through visits, cold calling, and meetings, and follows up on sales pipelines in order to grow the customer base, and achieve set divisional sales and revenue targets
3. Budget Management and Control
•Reviews, analyses, justifies and consolidates the budget (CAPEX and OPEX) requirements for the Sales and Business Development Division.
•Monitors the budget on a monthly basis, identifies variances, and takes appropriate action, where necessary
4. Client Service and Support
•Interface with the Customer Experience Manager to build and nurture customer service culture across Sales and Business Development teams through training, coaching, and mentoring in line with service standards.
•Drive Client Service Support by ensuring adherence to Client Service Level Agreements; and ensuring resolution of client issues by operational teams in line with approved turnaround time.
5. New Products Development and Marketing
•Identifies product and service gaps in the market based on product performance reports, and feedback from market surveys, marketing intelligence reports, regional and international trends and offerings.
•Oversees development of proposals for new products and marketing proposals in consultation with the Group Head of Marketing, etc.
6. Management of the Division
•Develops the necessary plan/s – key performance areas, key objectives / tasks, and action plans.
•Conducts periodic assessment of staff performance against agreed goals and benchmarks, and arrange interventions, including mentoring and coaching, where necessary.
•Ensures, the enablement, and implementation of the requisite Company Risk, Compliance, and SHE policies and procedures, and the maintenance of good Corporate Governance.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND APTITUDES:
•A Chartered Marketer, with a first degree in Commerce, Sales and Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent. A Chartered Insurer designation is an added advantage.
•8+ years experience in Sales, or Marketing, or Business Development in a similar or related environment, 5 years of which should be at management level.
•Ability to manage and develop staff + ability to plan and organize in line with job requirements.
•Business acumen + tenacity to close deals + strategic mindset + problem-solving skills + strong negotiations skills + excellent communication + ability to interact, negotiate (where applicable), and achieve targets + relationship- building and management skills.
