BACKGROUND
The Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) Plc is a local development finance institution (DFI) incorporated in November 2018 under the Company’s Act of 2013. The company was established to bridge the long-term financing gap in Malawi and spearhead private sector development. MAIIC is a commercially oriented DFI set up to play a leading role in socio-economic development in the country.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following position:

Enterprise Risk and Compliance Manager
The Enterprise Risk and Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that an adequate Enterprise Risk Management Framework is in place, maintained and working effectively. The Enterprise Risk and Compliance Manager will report directly to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

Position Summary

The Enterprise Risk and Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the organization operates within regulatory frameworks and complies with relevant laws and standards. The Enterprise Risk and Compliance Manager will report directly to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform reviews of the risk management process to continuously improve the existing risk management process.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management processes and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with functional heads to ensure that risk management practices are integrated into business operations.
  • Collect and report risk events and corrective action taken.
  • Develop systems to facilitate risk monitoring and risk improvement by ensuring that the risk identification process is aligned with the institution’s targets and objectives.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
  • Build relationships with regulatory bodies, industry associations and other external stakeholders to stay informed of regulatory developments and best practices.
  • Maintain an ongoing profile of key risks and emerging trends across the business.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders on risk and compliance activities.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance risk, develop, and implement corrective action plans for remediation.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure  adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Certified Risk Management professional would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of three years proven experience in enterprise risk management, compliance, or a related field, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to the organisation.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
