The Hunger Project Malawi

The Hunger Project Malawi a branch of the Global Hunger Project currently working in Blantyre, Chikwawa, Nsanje, Dedza, Mwanza, Neno, Ntcheu, Salima and Zomba districts has received funding from KfW through UNICEF on behalf of the Government of Malawi to facilitate implementation
of interventions under the Multi-sectoral Nutrition Program including Early Childhood Development Phase II in Phalombe and Nsanje Districts. The project will be implemented for a period of 8 months in collaboration with relevant Government sectors.

The Hunger Project Malawi would like to recruit key staff with relevant skills and experienced to work on the project and ensure its successful implementation. The key positions to be recruited are as follows:

DISTRICT M&E OFFICERS (Two Positions)

Job purpose:

Ensure effective and timely flow of data and reports from community SUN structures to the District M&E Framework. The job holder further supports the M & E and Learning Project Officer (MELO) in overall coordination of research, monitoring and evaluation activities during the implementation of the project. The job holder reports to the District Coordinator (Administratively) and to the MELO
(Technically).

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Identify project information requirements and design tools for data collection and analysis
  • Ensure long-term data collection, analysis and reporting according to specified requirements of the project, working closely with the Field Nutrition Officers.
  • Facilitate tracking of progress of district M & E framework indicators.
  • Provide input into the overall M & E system or exercise that will allow ownership for results and the results-reporting processes by all parties including communities.
  • Ensure that communities are involved in monitoring, reporting and evaluation activities utilizing the People-Centered Participatory Action Research (PAR) Monitoring and Evaluation Methodology to measure the impact of the work.
  • Strengthen capacity of district monitoring and evaluation staff, communities, and other project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project staff in planning, designing and undertaking project evaluations and assessments.
  • Ensure proper documentation of various activities in the district project.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be a self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Have a first degree in any Social Sciences discipline.
  • Have adequate computer literacy.
  • Knowledge and skills in qualitative and quantitative research skills will be an advantage.
