Child Protection Worker (4) – Zomba

ZOMBA DISTRICT COUNCIL

Zomba District Council with support from the American people through US Agency for International Development (USAID), will over the course of Five years, implement critical health and social welfare activities at the district level and contribute to the improvement of HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health (MCH), Family Planning (FP), Nutrition, and Social Welfare service delivery in Zomba district.

To achieve the intended objectives of the government to government agreement, Zomba District Council intends to hire additional Health Care and Support Staff workers.

The Council therefore invites suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing in Zomba:-

1. POST:Child Protection Worker (4)

Grade:Grade O

Salary:Within Grade O salary scale segment

Age Limit:Not older than 40 years

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be non-serving officers in possession of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and able to ride a bicycle. Volunteering case workers under Zomba District council are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES

1. Sensitizing the communities about the child rights, roles and responsibilities of
bearers and caregivers

2. Raising community awareness on dangers of child abuse, neglect violence, marriages, defilement and child trafficking.

3. Providing information about child protection services available in the community.

4. Handling cases at the Community Victim Support Unit

5. Supporting families with essential information on child rights, child health,
protection etc.

6. Positive parenting education

7. Conducting referral of victims to the police, one stop center(hospital) or community service providers and make follow ups

8. Social norms for protection of children and women

9. Establishment of child protection service points

10. Providing psycho-social support by counselling victims of abuse

11. Mediation in matrimonial disputes

12. assessments for targeting of beneficiaries

13. Mobilizing communities to identify issues affecting women and children

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Successful candidates should be willing to be deployed in rural health facilities
