BRANCH MANAGER

Microloan Foundation (Malawi) Limited is a premier microfinance institution which provides financial services and training support to help women set up and manage sustainable businesses in their communities. We are currently seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to assist with driving the balanced growth of our portfolio of borrowing customers at various branches in the Northern, Central and Southern Regions of Malawi.

OVERVIEW

You will primarily be responsible for meeting negotiated goals related to branch portfolio management and business development, as well as other objectives related to people leadership, customer retention and operational effectiveness.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The degree to which you will be successful in this position is based on a combination of the success of your direct reports as well as your individual contribution to the success of the team. At least annually you will be given a series of team and individual quantitative and qualitative goals by your Manager.

The quantitative goals may be further broken down into 30, 60 or 90-day KPls.

The following are some of the duties you will perform:

  • Manage a team of Loan Officers and other branch staff, focusing on the achievement of agreed business development and client retention plans.
  • Proactively monitor, analyse and report on the growth, sales, PAR, profitability and expense results of the branch.
  • Maximise the visibility of the Microloan brand by actively and positively promoting the company in the communities where the branch operates.
  • Drive efficiency and operational effectiveness in all day-to-day activities while ensuring top-notch customer satisfaction outcomes for the branch.
  • Ensure that branch PARs are consistently below approved thresholds by proactively monitoring portfolio trends, implementing appropriate strategies to recover arears, suggesting improvements to remedy any deterioration, and monitoring the outcomes of remedies.
  • Use KPIs to clearly communicate minimum performance expectations to all branch staff, monitor their performance on an ongoing basis, and provide the coaching and support needed to amplify their contribution to team objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Business Management/Rural Development Community with minimum of 4 years’ work experience. Those with a Bachelor’s Degree will have an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 4 years financial services experience, preferably in microfinance
  • A record of success leading a sales team to overachieve on agreed KPIs Excellent communication, collaboration and people leadership skills
  • A solution-oriented outlook, exceptional integrity and a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly use of Excel for data analysis
  • A strong understanding of loan origination and credit risk management processes
  • The ability to build sustainable relationships with customers and communities
  • Possession of motorcycle driving license is an added advantage.
