VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Timotheos Foundation is a local Malawian Christian Charity whose main objective is to support and care for orphans and other vulnerable children in Malawi. It was established on 1st September 2011 and officially registered under the Trustees incorporation act of Malawi on 3rd July 2012. We are affiliated to CONGOMA as well as the NGO Regulatory Authority. The organization is seeking to recruit a competent, committed, self-motivated, enthusiastic and Godfearing candidate of Malawian nationality for the position as detailed below;
Position : Assistant Nursery and Primary Education
Reporting to : Manager Nursery and Primary Education
Location : Head Office, Blantyre
Status of Employment : 1 year contract renewable depending on performance and conduct
Overall responsibilities
Responsible for assisting the Manager Nursery & Primary Education in ensuring quality education and a positive pedagogical environment in our primary schools. This role is crucial in ensuring the professional development of teachers, accurate processing of student data and timely communication with donors.
Key roles and responsibilities
1. Assist the Manager Nursery & Primary Education
- Support the Manager in the daily operations and planning for primary education.
- Participate in meetings and provide updates on the progress of various educational programs.
- Provide suggestions to the Manager on how to deal in specific situations or solutions to solve problems or changes to improve quality and/or pedagogical climate.
- Assist in the implementation of education policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular school visits and classroom observations and ensure compliance with education standards (results, schemes of work, lesson plans) and policies. Report the outcomes to the Manager.
- Support the Manager in preparing quarterly reports.
2. Contribute to a Good Pedagogical Climate
- Promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Ensure that teaching practices are student-centered and foster critical thinking by asking questions and providing feedback.
- Monitor classroom activities and provide feedback to improve teaching methods for a good pedagogical climate.
- Organise counselling for learners to guide them as they mature and participate in counselling where applicable.
- Contribute to the proper development of slow learners and special needs learners by ensuring appropriate education.
- Providing coaching and mentoring services to managers to develop recruitment skills.
3. Coaching of Teachers
- Be present at the schools on a fortnightly basis.
- Provide ongoing support and professional development for teachers.
- Execute training sessions and workshops to enhance teaching skills in close cooperation with the HR department and the Manager Nursery & Primary Education.
4. Administration
- Assist the Manager on the preparation, distribution, and administration of examinations.
- Provide monthly enrolment check for all primary schools.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of school enrolment, attendance, grades, and other relevant data.
- Further develop the handbook and keep it up to date.
- Assist the Manager on the allocation and utilization of educational resources (like learners and teaching materials, equipment and fabric for uniforms).
- Assist on the coordination of gifts (like passers gifts and Christmas gifts).

7. Education & work qualification
- Minimum qualification: T2 plus diploma in Primary Education.
- Additional certifications in Education, Pedagogics or Coaching are an advantage.
- A valid clean SADC driving license would be an advantage
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Primary Education in a teaching or educational management role.
- Experience working in an NGO or similar organization is preferred.
- Proven track record in supporting or coaching teachers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English.
