Overview

Timotheos Foundation is a local Malawian Christian Charity whose main objective is to support and care for orphans and other vulnerable children in Malawi. It was established on 1st September 2011 and officially registered under the Trustees incorporation act of Malawi on 3rd July 2012. We are affiliated to CONGOMA as well as the NGO Board of Malawi. The organization is seeking to recruit a competent, committed, self-motivated, and enthusiastic and God fearing candidates of Malawian nationality for the positions as detailed below;

Position                                 : Accounts Assistant

Reporting to                         : Finance and Administration Manager

Location                                : Head Office, Blantyre

Status of Employment     : 1 year contract

Overall responsibilities

  • The Accounts Assistant shall be responsible for recording and maintenance of financial records.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Help the employees to fill in and complete the requisition forms accurately.
  • Making sure that FRFs have been prepared according to the allocation of projects budget items.
  • Making sure that all supporting documents are intact before processing.
  • Making sure that the FRFs are properly processed before payment.
  • Prepare the bank payment vouchers with the reference from the funds requisition forms.
  • Making sure that bank payment vouchers are checked and approved before the transfer.
  • Making sure that bank payment vouchers are matched with the FRF before filling.
  • Making sure that all the vouchers and supporting documents are timely filled in the sequential manner.
  • Assisting the Accountant with the accurate posting of payments and receipts into QuickBooks.
  • Assisting in the monthly bank and petty cash reconciliations
  • Assisting in the process of journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Assisting in the disbursement of cash in the absence of the accountant.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION AND COMPETENCIES

  • At least a Diploma in Accounting from the accredited University.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in a busy NGO accounting office.
  • Proven experience in working with QuickBooks
  • Honesty and ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Attention to detail, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Self–starter and team player
  • Any other duties to be assigned form time to time.
