Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified serving and non-serving persons of Malawian Origin to fill the following vacant positions:
Job Title: Fisheries Officer
Grade: I/M6
Reporting to: Principal Fisheries Officer (Grade G/M4)
Location: Blantyre District Council

Duties and Responsibilities
I. Coordinate the development and dissemination of extension messages
II. Monitor implementation of District Extension Programs
III. Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports
IV. Provide extension services to various projects
V. Assist in preparation of departmental and annual work plans
VI. Assist in preparation of annual budget for extension unit
VII. Conducting research to identify fish market linkages through formal long term agreements between cooperatives and off takers
VIII. Development and oversee agribusiness plans, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and compliance with all safety regulations – organize and trainings for farmers to increase fish volumes and availability
IX. Maintain a readily usable form of fisheries data and information
X. Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications
Applicant must be serving Senior Assistants Fisheries Officers (Grade J/M7) with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the Local Authorities or in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science and Management, Marine Biology, Environmental Science or Aqua-Culture obtained from accredited institutions.
