Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified serving and non-serving persons of Malawian Origin to fill the following vacant positions:

Job Title: Gender Affairs Officer

Grade: I/M6

Reporting to: Principal Gender Officer (Grade G/M4)
Location: Blantyre District Council
No. of vacant positions: 1

Duties and Responsibilities

I. Interpret and implementation of the National Gender Policy and all relevant policies;
II. Identify gender knowledge and skills gap within staff.

III. Plan and organize capacity building initiatives
IV. Collection and processing of gender disaggregated data, which will inform policy, program and budget formulation process;
V. Facilitate mounting of campaigns and advocacy activities in liaison with the Ministry of Gender
VI. Disseminate newly adopted protocols, instruments and legislation on gender to sectoral officers, civil society and private sector at district level;
VII. Compile and submit reports monthly, quarterly and annually to relevant offices.

Qualifications

Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, Community Development, Rural Development, Education or Guidance and Counselling obtained from accredited institutions.
