Local Government Service Commission is inviting Applications from suitably qualified individuals to
fill the following vacant positions tenable at Ntcheu District Council.

Job Title: Principal Social and Child Welfare Officer
Grade: M4
Location: Ntcheu District council

Qualification

The candidates must be a serving social welfare/Child Welfare officer or Social Support Services
officer (Grade M6) with at least 4 years of experience at that grade in local authorities

Duties

I. Coordinate, control and manage provision of social welfare service liaison with District council
and relevant stakeholders
II. Plan and budget social welfare programme activities
III. Provide technical support in the development guidelines and standards for social welfare
provisions.
IV. Strengthen reporting and feedback mechanism to ensure timely reporting and updating of
social welfare data.
V. Carry out assessment need social welfare implementing agencies and make recommendations
for capacity building.
VI. Facilitate interface meetings with donors and other aid agencies to mobilize resources for
provision of social welfare services.
VII. Initiate research needs on emerging social welfare issues for better programing and improved
social services delivery.
VIII. Coordinate the work of NGOs and facilitate registration of NGOs in Malawi.
IX. Undertake various capacity building initiative to enhance capacity families, communities and
service provider in the provision of social welfare services.
X. Carry out periodic supervisory visit to District and institutions for purposes enforcing standards in
the provision of social welfare services.
XI. Handle cases referred from Districts and other referral agencies.
XII. Perform any other official duties that may assigned to them time to time by higher authorities.

Note: Documentary evidence of major requirements specified in the advertisement shall be required during interviews. Serving officers will also be required to demonstrate during the  interviews that they are permanent and pensionable officers in the Civil Service by producing letters of confirmation in appointment in addition to letters of condition of appointment on probation (PSR 19)
