NON-ACADEMIC STAFF VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resoces (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to be considered for the following vacant posts in various establishments of the University.

WEBMASTER

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and create visually appealing, user-friendly websites.
  • Ensure the website is responsive and compatible with various devices and browsers.
  • Regularly update and maintain the website’s content and structure
  • Create, edit, and update content on the website.
  • Ensure that the content is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve the website’s visibility on search engines.
  • Monitor website performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.
  • Manage domain registrations, hosting, and server configurations.
  • Stay informed about the latest web technologies and implement relevant updates.
  • Implement security measures to protect the website from cyber threats.
  • Regularly backup website data to prevent data loss.
  • Update and patch software to address security vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct usability testing to enhance the overall user experience.
  • Implement user feedback and make improvements to the website’s design and functionality.
  • Utilize web analytics tools to track website traffic and user behavior.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to assess the website’s performance.
  • Use insights to make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the website complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Implement accessibility standards to make the website easy to use.
  • Provide training to other team members or stakeholders on website management tools
    and processes.
  • Create documentation for internal use and reference.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for website downtime or critical issues.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents or other emergencies.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from relevant authorities.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from
    a University of repute.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant web development languages.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and web hosting platforms.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and enhancing websites
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

Terms and Conditions of Engagement

All the successful candidates will be engaged on an initial 2-year contract before they can be considered for permanent appointment based on satisfactory performance. Remuneration
will be in line with LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service applicable to staff
on fixed-term contract.
