CARE Malawi has secured funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, locally titled ‘Tiwoloka’. The funding runs from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2029. CARE Malawi will implement the project in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationists in
Malawi (FAWEMA) and Water Aid.

Therefore, CARE Malawi seeks to recruit well qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions within its USDA funded McGovern dole Food for Education program i.e. Tiwoloka Project in Malawi:

WAREHOUSE COORDINATOR

Position Description

The Warehouse Coordinator will oversee daily warehouse operations,
including the receipt, handling, storage, transportation, loss management, and reporting of commodities. This role includes direct supervision of the Warehouse Assistant, ensuring efficient and secure operations. The Warehouse Coordinator will ensure compliance with donor guidelines and CARE standards for all aspects of warehouse management, accountability for receipt, storage, dispatch, returns, documentation, and reporting of food commodities.

Specific duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure warehouse readiness for safe food storage, implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan.
  • Coordinate and plan fumigation activities as needed.
  • Regularly plan and submit the operational budget for warehouse activities.
  • Equip the warehouse with essential operational tools and materials, including documents, inventory ledgers, stack cards, waybills, and
    reporting formats.
  • Inspect warehouses and note whether they are well constructed, water proof, adequately ventilated, have doors and windows which
    can be securely locked.
  • Responsible for maintaining warehouse procedures, including receiving, stacking, dispatching, reporting, record keeping and casual worker/ labor handling.
  • Prepare the stack layout, lay down the pallets for proper stack building by commodity.
  • Verify and validate all data in reports, including Commodity Status
  • Report, Recipient Status Report, Loss Status Report, Damage and Misuse Commodity Report, Fumigation Report, and Narrative Report.
  • Conduct physical counts of stacks after each receipt and dispatch.
  • Keep commodity records organized, updated, and accessible for review by management, auditors, finance, and key staff.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain
  • 3 years of relevant experience in USG funded food warehouse
    management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both the local language and English, along with good numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with CARE and US Government logistics policies and procedures.
