VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the post of a Waiter at Crossroads Hotel in Blantyre. The position is extremely challenging and offer excellent career development opportunities for successful candidate:

Applicants must possess the following:

1. Malawi School Certificate of Education
2. Certificate in Hospitality management is an added advantage
3. Ability to work under pressure
4. At least 3 years work experience in a similar job.

The successful applicants will be responsible for:

1. Greet and seat guests as required and ensure the preset order of service is strictly adhered to.
2. Ensure that food and beverages charging dockets given to you for presentation to the guests are correct prior to being taken to the guest and to note that no form of payment should be done without the guest bill present.
3. Identify regular guests and ensure that they receive a high level of recognition and that their preferences are met by service staff at all times.
4. Liaise closely with barmen and chefs on the placing of orders and cashiers on the production of dockets to ensure procedures work smoothly at all times.
5. At all times up sell the products within your department and actively push for additional sales and bookings.
6. Ensure your working area is clean, tidy and set as per standard.
7. Assist in ensuring that all work stations, buffet presentations, function layouts, room service trays etc are prepared as per agreed standards and are ready within the preset time limits.
8. Ensuring room service trays are returned from rooms no more than one hour after delivery of the order.
9. Ensure that your tables are immediately cleared and relayed on departure of guests so that they are available for the next customers
10. Ensure that operating equipment is used properly and is cleaned and stored as per agreed standards.
11. Ensure that all areas of service .i.e. restaurant, lounge, and patio/gardens are kept clean and tidy at all times and that glasses are cleared, ashtrays emptied, chairs arranged neatly around tables etc.
