Children of the Nations is a duly registered NGO in Malawi with a mission to raise children who transform Nations. It partners with nationals to provide Christ-centered care for orphaned and destitute children, enabling them to create a positive and lasting change in their nations. In order to fulfil its vision effectively and excellently, opportunity has risen to engage qualified person of Malawian origin to fill post tenable at its head office in Lilongwe. COTN therefore, invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position on a two-year contract renewable upon successful performance appraisals and availability of funds.

Position : University and Vocational Program Coordinator

Position Summary

Partner with the Country Director in planning and implementing UNVP and students transition activities, SOSs, policies and procedures, and other program activities as directed by the Programs Director or the Country Director

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the distribution and review of students’ university and college applications and support students’ application process
  • Ensure relevant placement and support of students in higher education institutions that fit students’ abilities, passions, career paths and COTN program funding
  • Assist in researching tertiary education/scholarship opportunities for UNVP students
  • Collaborate with COTNI and COTN-MA departments for administration of excellent holistic care of UNVP children
  • Coordinate the facilitation of sponsorship and UNVP activities as per SOSs and maintain constant communication with COTNI Sponsorship Coordinators, Liaison, and the Country Director
  • Coordinate, facilitate and implement smooth and successful transitioning out of UNVP students from the program
  • Coordinate Business Connection activities with UNVP Facilitator and ensure it is thriving and benefiting COTN students and children
  • Ensure provision of necessary and relevant guidance, counselling, and mentorship to UNVP students
  • Develop yearly Annual Operation Plans, budgets and Quarterly plans and ensure implementation of the same

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competences

  • Degree in Education Leadership or Development Studies or its relevant and minimum of 3 years of experience in working with young adults in college or university or aspiring to do tertiary education.
  • Counselling and mentorship skills
  • Skills and ability to develop program plans and budgets Research work, dissertation and thesis writing skills Marketing knowledge and skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience and ability to work in a flexible and cross-cultural environment
  • Emotionally stable, strategically mature and able to hold intellectual deliberations
  • Experience in implementing child protection policy and working with children and youths from troubled backgrounds
