Overview

TRAINING MANAGER

The Malaria Alert Centre (MAC) is a research center under the Karmuzu University of Health Sciences. The center works with the Ministry of Health, local and international health agencies, and academic institutions to address priority health problerms in Malawi and the SADC region through research, capacity building and training, disease surveillance, and monitoring and evaluation of interventions in communicable diseases.

MAC is inviting applications from suitably qualified and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Training Manager to support trainings that will be done in conjunction with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP).

The aims of the trainings are: to provide supportive supervision to primary health care workers trained in malaria case management in the context of COVID19; and to orient support staff who conduct MRDT testing in infection prevention in the context of COVID 19.

Type of contract and duration
The contract will be for one (1) year and renewable subject to availability of funds and performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These will include, but are not limited to the following:

•Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of the training activities according to coordinated work plan.
•Liaise with District Health Management Teams (DHMTS) to plan and capture training requirements.
•Define and track training tasks and milestones to ensure systematic planning of the prioritized objectives.
•Support the Ministry of Health officials in the deyelopment of training materials.
•Develop teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference works
•Allocate and monitor training tasks as well as support tasks.
•Assist and prepare facilitators fo the training
•Ensure that all trainees have the necessary training materials and logistics necessary for training.
•Support the testing of trainees through exit interviews and surveys to evaluate effectiveness of training.
•Monitor and write training progress reports.
•Actively manage all financial resources to ensure value for money.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

•Applicants must have an appropriate post graduate qualification, preferably a Master’s degree such as an MPH or other relevant qualification
•Experience working with stakeholders within the Ministry of Health, DHMTs, NGOs, international implementing partners and the donor community.
•Experience in writing training reports.
•A self-starter who works with little support.
•Well-developed communication and writing skills.
•Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.

REMUNERATION

The position will attract a salary with benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications as applicable to contract staff in the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences. KUHES is an equal opportunity employer.
