Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.

Key duties & responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Developing and implementing social media strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Creating, scheduling, and publishing content on various social media platforms.
  • Monitoring social media channels for trends, comments, and mentions.
  • Engaging with the online community, responding to comments and inquiries promptly.

Content Creation

  • Generating creative and compelling content for web and social media.
  • Creating graphics, infographics, and multimedia content to accompany posts.
  • Ensuring content aligns with brand guidelines and maintains a consistent brand voice.
  • Writing and editing articles for the internal newsletter

Website Management

  • Updating and maintaining the organization’s website with current and relevant content.
  • Ensuring website functionality, responsiveness, and user experience.
  • Collaborating with web developers to implement website enhancements.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Utilizing analytics tools to track and analyze social media and website performance.
  • Preparing regular reports on key performance indicators (KPls) and provide insights.
  • Making data-driven recommendations to optimize digital strategies.

Social Media Advertising

  • Planning and executing social media advertising campaigns.
  • Monitoring advertising budgets and adjust strategies for optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams to align social media advertising with broader campaigns.

Community Building:

  • Identifying and engaging with influencers and industry partners to expand online reach.
  • Fostering a sense of community among followers and encourage user-generated content.
  • Implementing strategies to grow the Malawi Electoral Commission’s online audience.

Monitoring Trends:

  • Staying updated on social media and digital marketing trends.
  • Recommending and implementing emerging trends to keep the organization ahead in the digital landscape.

Collaboration:

  • Working closely with marketing, communications, and design teams to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to gather information and insights for content creation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least a Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts or related field.
  • Proven experience in social media management and website administration of not less than three years.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using social media scheduling and analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Graphic design skills and familiarity with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of media monitoring and analysis software
  • Malawian Citizen with National ID
