Job Summary:

The Technical Officer will be part of the EpiC Technical team and oversee COVID 19 Technical Assistance project-related activities. The position will work with implementing partners to coordinate activities for integration of TB/COVID bidirectional screening and promoting COVID vaccine uptake; these include facilitating the training of Community Volunteers on COVID 19 response at the community level, conducting risk communication and community engagement meetings with district and community stakeholders, and support joint mentorship and supervision site visits with MoH.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed implementation plans to integrate TB/COVID bidirectional screening and promote COVID vaccine uptake.
  • Facilitate training of community volunteers on COVID screening and Vaccine promotion at the community level
  • Facilitate risk communication and community engagement activities for C19 response with stakeholders and implementing partners at district and community levels.
  • Contribute to all USAID reporting deliverables, including but not limited to quarterly reports, annual reports, and work plans.
  • Consolidate records and documentation such as proposals, reporting, risk registers, meeting minutes, lessons learned, and similar documents.
  • Maintain an updated calendar of COVID19 implementation team meetings and key engagements
  • Work closely with the M and E team to keep an updated record of performance milestones, electronic reports, and other MEL-related documents.
  • Support establishing and maintaining the different collaboration platforms for the COVID19 program implementation team across the Malawi country office.
  • Interface with teams and departments across FHI360 and the implementing partners to support COVID19 program delivery.
  • Represent the project in relevant technical working groups with Government, stakeholders, and implementing partners as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Health-related (Nursing, Medicine/ Clinical Medicine) or equivalent with 5+ years of related experience
  • A Master’s degree in Public Health will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of health and development programs in Malawi, including familiarity with relevant national guidelines, standards, and protocols
  • Familiarity with the Malawi Public Health sector at regional, district, and council levels and experience working with these teams.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal,  written, and presentation skills are required
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, are required,
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others at all levels are required.
  • The ability to take the initiative, follow through, and work independently is required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities while working effectively toward deadlines is required.
