PROJECT BACKGROUND

Agri-impact Malawi, in collaboration with Dorsch Impact and the Government of Malawi, is excited to present a consultancy opportunity within the project “Strategic Support for Systems Thinking and Transformative Learning for STEP UP! – Sustainable Transformation of Food Systems, Empowering Pathways Bottom-Up.” This BMZ-funded initiative aims to tackle critical challenges in food systems governance, encourage healthy diets, and enhance the capacities of government stakeholders at both the national and district levels.

We are inviting applications from qualified professionals to fill the following roles based in Lilongwe:

TEAM LEADER (1 POSITION)

Role Overview

The Team Leader will be responsible for the project team’s overall coordination, quality assurance, and management. This includes integrating various outputs into cohesive deliverables while ensuring the successful execution of the project’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the advisory packages, ensuring both quality and deadlines are met.

  • Coordinate and maintain communication with GIZ, project partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Manage personnel, identify short-term assignment needs within budget constraints, and plan, steer, and support both local and international short-term experts.

  • Ensure regular reporting in accordance with project deadlines.

  • Lead efforts in organisational capacity building, improving operational effectiveness, collaboration among stakeholders, institutional governance, and fostering sustainable change processes.

Required minimum Qualification and experience

  • We seek a highly experienced Team Leader with a master’s degree in agriculture, nutrition, development studies, organisational development, or related fields.
  • Possession of a C2-level proficiency in English and Chichewa
  • At least 10 years of experience in systems thinking, adult education, or organisational development.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing complex food systems or governance transformation projects.
  • At least 4 years in facilitating institutional change with gender and climate sensitivity.
  • A minimum of 1 year working on inclusive governance.
  • Proven leadership with at least 5 years in project management.
  • 5 years of experience working in Malawi and Development Cooperation (DC) projects.
