ТВ KEY POPULATION AND OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY TECHNICAL OFFICER (SECONDEE)
Position Purpose
Reporting to Program Manager, the Technical Officer will provide technical and coordination support to the program manager to design, implement, and evaluate TB interventions targeting KVPs in TB care and prevention as well as occupational safety and health. The incumbent will play a key technical role in collaborating other key stakeholders in strengthening occupational health and mine health regulation across the three implementing ministries (Health, Labor, and Mines).
Educational Qualification and Experience
- A minimum qualification of MBBS, MMed, MPH, Master in Global Health
- At least 5 years of working experience in TB and occupational health and TB in key vulnerable populations
- Experience in designing TB interventions targeting key and vulnerable populations.
- Prior experience in developing and facilitating
occupational safety and health for workers, supervisors, and management. - Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in report writing and dissemination to the right audience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, powerpoint, excel, and data analysis packages such as SPSS, etc.
- Maturity and professional ability to handle sensitive information with respect for confidentiality.
- Excellent project implementation skills and the ability to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to identify challenges and gaps in TB prevention, screening, and treatment among key populations.
- Establish and update regularly TB key population size estimate for each sub-population group.
- Develop an annual implementation plan targeting KVPs, outlining activities, budget, timelines, and responsible parties for integrating occupational safety and health measures into TB program activities.
- In collaboration with stakeholders, develop evidence-based strategies and action plans satisfy the needs of KVPs.
- Support the rollout X-ray as TB screening tool nationwide both at community and facility level.
- Guide the NTLEP during implementation of TE prevention, screening, and treatment interventions targeting key populations.
- Ensure the integration of occupational safety and health measures into all aspects of TB program activities to protect healthcare workers, community workers, and other personnel involved in TB care and prevention.
- Support comprehensive training and capacity-building activities healthcare providers on TB management, emphasizing occupational safety and health protocols.
- Strengthen local health systems to integrate TB services with existing health programs and facilities, focusing on meeting the occupational safety and health standards.
- Work closely with the MGE team to track the progress of KVPs interventions and regularly update the NTLEP leadership.
- Develop/update training materials and capacity-building programs for healthcare providers, including specific modules on occupational safety and health.
- Develop and implement TB interventions targeting key and vulnerable populations.
- Support the Unit in designing and implementing best practice interventions in occupational health, mine health, safety, and disease surveillance.
- Contribute to the development of national work plans with a focus on occupational safety and health and mine health regulation.
- Create a detailed implementation plan outlining activities, timelines, and responsible parties for integrating occupational safety and health measures into TB program activities.
