Post: Studio Engineer

Grade: H/P8

Responsible to: Principal Broadcasting Officer

Main Purpose of the Job

To oversee provision of studio engineering services

Duties of the Post

a) Leads in articulating the technical needs of the two media;

b) Ensures the smooth working of all equipment in the two media;

c) Guides Management in the procurement of equipment;

d) Manages setting up and testing sound equipment in the studio, before events, broadcasts or recordings;

e) Manages installation and testing new facilities and equipment;

f) Interprets and implements instructions and requests from presenters, producers and others;

g) Liaises with broadcasting production officers for quality control;

h) Coordinates videography;

i) Maintains specialist equipment for video production, broadcast and satellite transmission and interactive media;

j) Analyses and guides repair of technical faults on equipment and systems;

k) Compiles technical reports; and,

l) Supervises, appraises and develops or mentor staff under her/his charge.

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor’s Degree in any field with at least two (2) years’ experience in journalism, broadcast and media production work. Those with Parliamentary work experience will have an added advantage.
