An opportunity has arisen for position of Stores Supervisor who will oversee the Stores function. The position shall direct the daily stores activities, work scheduling, and assignments of employees to receipt of raw materials, consumables and spares, make stores’ issues, manage inventory, and loading finished goods in line with Presscane guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees receipt and verification of incoming shipments;
  • Ensures proper handling of inbound logistics including unloading, categorized, verified and stored according to policy.
  • Ensures that an accurate inventory record of finished goods from Production is maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintains real time detailed records of available products and their storage locations.
  • Conducts regular inventory checks and random checks on all inventory and produce reconciliation reports in line with company policy.
  • Liaising with Procurement to ensure all orders raised are properly closed.
  • Produces GRNs for goods received and collaborate with Expenditure Accountant when making payments.
  • Initiate the return process for all non-conforming goods to be returned to supplier.
  • Ensure use of weighbridge all the time for all goods which procedure requires to be measured by the facility.
  • Facilitate quarterly stock take exercise in line with policy, providing explanations for variations and seeking approvals for adjustments.
  • Accounting for all inventory in the ledger in line with the relevant International Financial Reporting Standard.
  • Communicating and coordinating with other departments and customers.
  • Supervising, coaching and mentoring staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Stores procedures and policies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to work in a busy office within set deadlines.
  • General Accounting Knowledge.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and any software used to maintain inventory.
  • Knowledge of SAP Materials Management system would be an added advantage
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of Diploma in Stores Management, Logistics and Accounting is required
  • Membership of Chartered Institute of Warehousing and Materials Management or other equivalent body.
  • At least five years of related experience is highly preferred
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to traverse warehouse to observe physical inventory.
