Project Hope

Project Hope Namibia in Malawi (PHN-MA) seeks qualified Malawian candidate to fill various positions for the USAID funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo Activity (ANAPA) Project, a project aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improve the health wellbeing and Protection of Children, Adolescents, their families and Young Women (CAFYW) living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV. ANAPA will be implemented in high HIV burdened nine districts in Malawi (Blantyre, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba). The program focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM). The approach is also including but not limited to System Strengthening, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM).

Duty Station: Blantyre, Chikwawa, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba

Job Summary: Will be overseeing the implementation of the PHN ANAPA child protection as well as GBV/VAC prevention and response services. S/he will be responsible for assessing clients’ needs, developing care plans, connecting them to appropriate services, and advocating for their well-being, and working closely with community level PHN ANAPA staff, clients, families, and community resources to address a range of social and emotional challenges.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the district level work plan on the OVC comprehensive and OVC preventive components of ANAPA.

  • Support relevant GBV prevention, detection, and response interventions under the OVC & DREAMS component of ANAPA to ensure leveraging of resources and AGYW benefiting from both programs.

  • Support monitoring of Viral load to ensure viral load suppression among CAFYW living with HIV.

  • Support and strengthen identification and linkage of CAFWY through intensified clinic and community case finding, index testing, and contact tracing.

  • Provide trainings, mentorship, support supervision and coaching to coordinators, CPWs, Facilitators and Case Workers and government staff in Case Management principles.

  • Strengthen bi-directional facility/community linkages towards improved CAFYW, continuum of care with focus on optimizing health and social services and ensure case conferencing takes place between health facility and social welfare staff to support.

  • Oversee the implementation of PHN’s child safeguarding policy and ensure CAFYW are safe and accesses non-clinical post violence care services.

  • Support the strengthening of the referral linkage system for child protection services.

  • Link survivors of violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect to police, legal counsel, and child protection services including shelter/care facility or kinship care placement.

  • Oversee the community and facility linkage, implementation of positive parenting, SKILLZ and support NMN girls and boys and CBIM.

  • Liaise with the M&E team in tracking and reporting related targets.

Minimum Qualifications, experience and required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, social sciences, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HIV sensitive child protection case management.

  • Strong understanding of positive parenting, SKILLZ, MHPSS services and prevention of Violence Against Children and Youth.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving skills, team player
