SOCIAL WELFARE ASSISTANT – ZOMBA DISTRICT COUNCIL

Zomba District Council with support from the American people through US Agency for International Development (USAID), will over the course of Five years, implement critical health and social welfare activities at the district level and contribute to the improvement of HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health (MCH), Family Planning (FP), Nutrition, and Social Welfare service delivery in Zomba district.

To achieve the intended objectives of the government to government agreement, Zomba District Council intends to hire additional Health Care and Support Staff workers.

The Council therefore invites suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant positions existing in Zomba:-

POST:SOCIAL WELFARE ASSISTANT (1)

Grade:Grade M

Salary:Within Grade M salary scale segment

Age Limit:Not older than 40 years

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be non-serving officers in possession of a basic certificate in Welfare obtained from Magomero College or any other accredited institution Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and able to ride a bicycle. Volunteering child protection workers under Zomba District council are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES

1. Asses and assist clients with social problems in accordance with case work
principles.

2. Works with community structures to identify vulnerability individual and facilitate access to social services

3. Provide guidance on issues of adoption and foster care

4. Compile social reports in cases of juvenile delinquencies as requested by courts.

5. Mobilize communities to establish community level structures and service points for child protection and Early Childhood Development (ECD)

6. Supervise and provide technical advice to community Child Protection workers.

7. Perform any other official duties that may be assigned from time to time

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
Successful candidates should be willing to be deployed in rural health facilities
