Job Title: Social Media and Content Creator
Job Specification:
The Social Media and Content Creator will play a central role in managing the organization’s digital presence across social media platforms and producing high-quality content to engage audiences, increase visibility, and support the organization’s communication goals. The job holder will be responsible for ensuring brand consistency, writing impactful storytelling, creating compelling written, visual, and multimedia content for internal and external audiences across multiple channels (including social media, websites, newsletters, and reports). The job holder will work closely with various departments to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and timely delivery of communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Management
- Develop and manage a content calendar for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, etc.).
- Create and publish engaging content tailored to each platform, including graphics, captions, reels, and videos.
- Monitor social media channels daily, respond to comments and messages, and engage with followers.
- Content Creation
- Write and edit content for a variety of digital platforms including social media, blogs, newsletters, and the organization’s website.
- Design visuals and multimedia assets using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or CapCut.
- Capture and edit photos and videos for digital campaigns, events, and program highlights.
- Work with internal teams to develop stories, testimonials, and project update.
- Campaign Development and Execution
- Support the development and execution of communication campaigns for awareness, fundraising, and events.
- Collaborate with the communications/marketing team to ensure messages are aligned across platforms and audiences.
- Assist in planning and delivering promotional strategies around key organizational events and initiatives.
- Brand & Messaging Consistency
- Ensure all content reflects the organization’s brand voice, visual identity, and values.
- Maintain and update social media guidelines, templates, and content.
- Uphold quality control of all public-facing content before publishing.
- Assist with uploading blog posts, content updates, and multimedia to the organization’s website.
- Contribute to the production and distribution of newsletters and email campaigns.
- Analytics and Reporting
- Generate monthly reports on social media performance (engagement, reach, audience growth).
- Use insights to inform future content creation and campaign planning.
- Monitor online conversations and trends relevant to the organization’s mission and audience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in social media management, content creation, or digital communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and tools (Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.).
- Basic graphic design or video editing skills (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, CapCut, etc.).
- Knowledge of digital marketing principles and analytics tools is an added advantage.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Creative, proactive, and detail oriented.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools (Mailchimp, WordPress, Google Analytics, etc.).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
DESIRABLE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Experience in non-profit or development sector video production.
- Photography or videography experience required.
- Knowledge of motion graphics and animation (e.g., Adobe After Effects).
- Background in storytelling related to education, community development, or social impact.
