Shorthand Typist/Stenographer

Grade: K/M9

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Take dictation
2. Transcribe
3. Type general and confidential correspondence
4. File Mail
5. Undertake reception duties
6. Maintain the Director of Health and Social Services appointments diary
7. Operate office equipment of various types such as fax, photocopiers etc.

Qualifications

Applicants must be serving Senior Copy Typist (Grade L/M10) or Copy Typist (Grade M/M11) with a minimum of 100 words per minute shorthand certificate and 50 words per minute typing certificate obtained from a recognised institution.

Applicants from outside the service must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education with at least 100 words per minute shorthand certificate and 50 words per minute typing certificate obtained from a recognised institution.

Competencies

The incumbent is to serve in the office of the Director of Health and Social Services, therefore, he or she must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability. He or she must have good communication skills, computer knowledge, a good sense of humour and well organised.
