Job Title:                     Shop Accountant


Reports To:                 Financial Controller


Responsible For:        None

Level/Grade:               Grade C2


Conduct market research to identify selling possibilities, evaluate customer needs and overseeing and developing marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare Monthly shop profit and loss
  2. Preparing and submitting shop statutory returns
  3. Perpertual inventory count for the shops across the country
  4. Reconciliation of shop inventory and planning for demand based replenishment
  5. Making sure that rental for the shops are up to date
  6. Reconciliation of prepayment and accrual accounts
  7. Capturing shop transactions in sage evolution and filling posted documents
  8. Balance sheet reconciliations
  9. Verifying shop bank deposits and balancing cash register
  10. Managing and controlling lay bye facilities
  11. Production of daily and monthly shop statistics for the shop
  12. Managing Shopify point of sales for the shops


Skills and Personal Attributes:

  1. Knowledge of Sage Evolution 200 and Shopify
  2. Analytical skills
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Ability to interact with a wide range of professionals and grassroot communities
  5. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to and maintain effective partnerships at all levels
  6. Ability to work effectively in a team within a multi cultural environment
  7. Ability to effectively under pressure
  8. Good organisation skills

Knowledge Required:

  • A clear understanding of the NGO sector accounting principles
  • Knowledge of retail management systems
  • Knowledge of inventory management


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accountancy from a recognised institution
  • 3 years experience in a similar role


Mental Demands/Judgement and Initiative:

  • Pressure at month end when financial reporting is required



  • Prepares and submits required written monthly activities and implementation plan
