JOB DESCRIPTION

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall effective delivery of all supply chain needs for the entire Save the Children Country Office program. She/He will lead in developing long-term supply chain strategies to support Save the Children programmes and provide strategic leadership to the Country Office Supply Chain function, which includes Procurement, Fleet, Warehouse & Asset Management, Cash & Voucher Assistance and Construction.
The person will ensure effective coordination of service delivery and implementation of procurement, fleet, warehouse, assets and infrastructural work in line with overall Save the Children strategic objectives. The person is also responsible for increasing the professional capacity of all supply chain and other program / functional staff country-wide by providing constant on-the-job training and by conducting or organizing specific supply chain capacity development.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement and Supply Management and Postgraduate training in a relevant field of study.  A Masters’ degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Professional Qualifications in Supply Chain Management.
  • At least 8 years working experience in a similar position or related position in a reputable organization, preferably an international NGO.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Strategic and long-term planning skills necessary for planning and implementing supply chain processes and procedures.
  • Good practical experience in emergency preparation, response and management
  • Creative and visionary
  • Strong experience in management of bulk procurements for various projects
  • Strong people skills: Ability to manage mid-level managerial staff and the relations between them and the program staff they support.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills
  • A management style which emphasizes transparency,  supporting Teams, strategic thinking general guidance and delegation of authority
  • Experience with e-procurements models
  • Strong application of commuter technologies and applications related to procurement and supply chain management
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity
  • Good understanding of construction and fleet management related projects

Desirable

  • Thorough understanding (or ability to do so) of Save the Children, donor, and national legal requirements for the supply chain function, including applicable laws and NGO regulations.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Interpersonal skills, customer care skills, contributing to synergies and effective liaison between senior management, the unit staff and program staff.
