About the Role

Location: Head Office, Blantyre

Purpose:

The Senior Risk and Internal Control Officer is responsible for the identification of all aspects of non-compliance with the policies and procedures in the implementation of the products and making recommendations for improvement and provide support internal to auditors when appropriate. At all times, the Senior Risk and Internal Controls Officers will ensure confidentiality and proper filing of information gathered as well as that report is well maintained.

Accountabilities:

1. Conduct supervision visits to all branches and review lending processes to a certain level of compliance.
2. Prepare and submit supervision reports to the Compliance Manager in time.
3. Train staff to address some of the areas to improve quality of staff to minimize breach of policy and procedures.
4. Monitor performance and risk of all credit staff.
5. Participate in the review of policies and procedures.

 

About the Candidate

Education:

• Degree or Diploma in Business Studies – Accounting Option or Banking.

 Experience:

• Three years relevant work experience in working with either a Micro-finance institution or a Banking sector.
• A sound knowledge of micro finance and principles and practices of banking, plus practices of micro finance deposit-taking institutions.

• Financial reporting/analysis and interpretations.

• Ability to mentor Internal Control staff.

• Good critical thinking skills.
• Effective communication skills and public relations skills.
• Computer literacy is a MUST.
• Ability to meet deadlines as set in the department reporting structure.
