Key Responsibilities:

Under the leadership of the Business Development and Grants Management Director, the Senior Business Development Officer, will provide leadership in identifying and acquiring grants and private non-sponsorship funding. The position is also responsible for establishing and sustaining relations with diverse donors and building the capacity of local staff in the area of proposal writing, program designing and donor relations. Streamline GAM processes across the NO portfolio and ensure GAM capacity building where needed.

 

Resource Acquisition

  • Serve as proposal lead, ensuring support/engagement of technical sector specialists, grant finance officer, and other key departments in project design.
  •  Prepare/write grant concept papers, proposals, budgets, and reports  for  World  Vision’s partnership and major donors.
  • Work with support office, regional office and other partners in identifying opportunities for acquiring grants/ private funds
  • Lead in pre award assessment /research and selection of potential collaborating partners.
  • Lead in the review of call for proposals and conduct GO –NO GO.
  •  Lead   in   the   design   of M&E, implementation frameworks   for new grants including   the development of comprehensive Terms of References for consultancy services.

Management of Donor relations and Stakeholder Engagements 

  •  Engage with World Vision support office to mobilize resources from their countries
  • Engage with public and multilateral donors to mobilize grant funding
  • Conduct donor interest mapping
  •  Participate in meetings to explore new opportunities and strengthen existing opportunities.
  • Constant engagements with regional office, support office and GC on Grants acquisition matters.
  • Develop WV marketing products in collaboration with the communications team
  •  Collaborate and negotiate with international funding offices on match needs and other resources (e.g. technical)

Compliance and Quality Assurance 

  • Serve as lead for donor compliance in grants management
  • Conduct periodic partner assessment and capacity development
  • Monitor grant implementation and support donor compliance
  • Manage HIGH risk grant register and monitoring
  • Facilitate or collaborate with funding offices on the facilitation of grant design, start-up, closeout workshop for grant project staff and support function staff members for each critical grant

Capacity building of local staff

  • Build the capacity of local staff in the area of proposal writing, program designing donor relations
  •  Build the capacity of local staff in understanding donor regulations to ensure compliance

People Management 

  • Manage Performance of direct reports

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s in development studies, international Development or social sciences or related.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies / Administration/ Economics/ Social Science
  • Competent use of Microsoft office programmes
  • Strong influencing and networking skills
  • 5 years demonstrated experience in successful project design, proposal writing, funding acquisitions and donor relations.
  • Knowledge of multi sectoral proposal development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor specific priorities, regulations, standards and processes
  • Understanding of   PADOR, Gate Way to Grants (G2G) and USG regulations
  • Knowledge in programme management
  • Knowledge in Design Monitoring and Evaluation
