Catholic Diocese of Karonga
Background:
The Catholic Diocese of Karonga is among the eight diocese in Malawi operating under the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM). The Diocese was created in 2010 and operates in the district of Chitipa, Karonga and Rumphi (partly) in the Northern part of Malawi. It shares boundary with the Diocese of Mzuzu to the South but also international borders with Tanzania to North East and Zambia to the North West.
The Diocese is flanked by Lake Malawi on the eastern side and on the western side there are mountainous areas. Asides its principal spiritual evangelisation services, the Diocese also provides social development services through its Caritas Commission (or Caritas Karonga). The Caritas Commission carries out its work through the departments of Development, Justice and Peace, Health and Education.
Duties And Responsibilities:
a) Patrol areas and check doors, gates, and windows for signs of unauthorized entry.
b) Watch for irregularities (e.g. fire hazards, leaking water pipes, lights left on, equipment
malfunctions, unlocked security doors) and report incidents or problems to the appropriate authority.
c) Record times of inspections and presence of authorized persons.
d) Respond to alarms and check alarm system.
e) Observe and report suspects to police, or apprehend offenders when appropriate and detain
them until police arrive.
f) Detect and report fraud, theft and other unlawful acts of employees.
g) Carry out any authorized task from time to time as requested by the authority.
Requirements
a) Malawi Junior Certificate of Education
b) One-year experience as security guard
c) At least two years’ experience in a similar position;
d) Good command of English. Sound independent judgment
e) Be physically fit;
