Security Coordinator in Malawi

Role overview

ACK3 seeks a qualified Security Coordinator to oversee security operations for our projects in Malawi. This role is critical to ensuring the physical and operational security of our teams and projects, including supporting local development initiatives. The role requires proactive risk management, adaptability, and close coordination with our European Security Operations Center (SOC).

 

Main responsibilities

  • Physical security management: Ensure robust on-the-ground security for all team members, including secure transport and safe operational sites.
  • Supervision of local security staff: Lead and coordinate local security personnel, including drivers and escorts, to support secure operations.
  • Risk assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments specific to the Malawian environment, identifying and preparing for potential threats.
  • Implementation of security protocols: Apply ACK3’s security protocols and adjust security measures as needed, based on real-time conditions.
  • Coordination with PMO: Collaborate closely with ACK3’s Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure project activities adhere to security standards and meet key performance indicators (KPIs). Our 24/7 SOC in Europe provides centralized support.
  • Field Intelligence Gathering (HuMInt): Collect and interpret field intelligence to proactively inform and enhance security measures.
  • Reporting and documentation: Maintain clear, detailed reports on security activities, incidents, and preventive actions, communicating consistently with ACK3 management.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in physical security management and security team leadership in high-risk or developing regions, ideally within Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Security certifications: Formal security and protection training (international certifications are a plus).
  • Expertise in risk analysis: Demonstrated ability to perform effective risk assessments and apply security protocols.
  • Human Intelligence (HuMInt) skills: Skilled in gathering and utilizing local intelligence for security measures.
  • Strong communication: Proficiency in English, with strong cross-cultural communication abilities.
  • Adaptability and flexibility: Willingness to travel as needed and adapt to evolving security situations.
