Position: Security Analyst (1 Post)
GardaWorld (M) Limited seeks to engage the services of a Security Analyst to be based in at Head Office in Lilongwe.
Job Summary
The Security Analyst shall be responsible for monitoring and analysing the political and security situation within the country, conducting threat and risk assessment for clients and advise on best practices within specific areas. The role develops regular reports on physical security conditions and risks, making recommendations for implementing changes, improvements or corrections.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Customer Service Manager the Security Analyst shall:
1. Monitor political and security situations in Malawi and the neighboring regions and provide credible information and contextual analysis of the local and regional security situation;
2. Gather, interpret and integrate security data on potential threats on client operations. Conduct threat and risk assessments for clients and advise on best practices within specific areas to help clients identify, evaluate and mitigate security risks;
3. Analyse security related information and develop regional information networks liaising with law enforcement agencies, NGOs, the UN, the military, and other national and international security agencies to obtain relevant information for use by clients;
4. Provide situational reports at operational and management level for continuous security risk analysis. Collect, collate, analyse and disseminate security risk-related information. Maintain data on the internal and external security threats and offer timely reports on developing situations;
5. Report on weekly, monthly basis and develop thematic research reports on key themes. Write comprehensive weekly reports on local and regional security situation, as it relates to business;
6. Produce daily incident reports, threat warnings and facilitate security meetings. Pro-actively participate and propose the drafting of other analysis reports (Week, area brief, maps.) on request;
7. Support in development of tailored security analysis, context analysis, development and review of security plans/documents;
8. Represent GardaWorld Malawi in some security-related functions and act as the local focal point for security, safety and information sharing between the relevant actors within the area of operations;
9. Circulate Security information at all levels. Ensure breaking news, flash reports, advisories or other important information are immediately circulated, locally through different means of communications (email, sms, phone etc.); and
10. Identify and interact with security actors at the central and local levels. Establish regular contacts with the security staff in international organisations and/or private sector;
Qualifications, Experience and Other Attributes
  • Bachelor’s degree in security studies, social studies or criminology.
  • Higher National Diploma in security studies
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in security analysis, general management
  • Technical experience and exposure in data collection, analysis and dissemination with a focus on security issues
  • Experience of working in a security environment and conversant with security laws and regulations
  • IT Competency especially word processing, spreadsheet
