VACANCY FOR SCHOOL NURSE

The Lilongwe Academy is an international private school, situated in Area 47 sector 4 behind silver stadium, Lilongwe. The school is founded on the firm belief that every child is unique but all children need excellent education and motivation of their spirit, mind and body are to be well developed as future responsible citizens and leaders. The Lilongwe Academy now invites applications from candidates who meet the qualifications and experience stated below to fill the vacant position of School Nurse.

Duties
Among other duties the successful candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:

To assess First Aid problems presented by learners and staff, taking appropriate action in the.event of an emergency and communicating with staff and parents as necessary.
To be responsible for administering prescribed drugs which are necessary to be taken by.pupils during the school day, ensuring that parental consent is obtained and recorded.
To attend to minor medical needs of learners, such as administering plasters, bandages etc.
and look after learners who feel ill.
To inform the head teacher in the event of more serious medical concerns and make the
necessary arrangements for parents to be contacted.
To advise on general health matters as presented by the staff and learners, and communicate with parents as appropriate.
To co-ordinate, administer and maintain Individual Health Care Plans for pupils with specific medical needs in conjunction with parents
To keep an up-to-date accident record book, including details of injuries.
To be responsible for maintaining stocks and ordering medical supplies and equipment in
order to ensure adequate emergency medical resources exist within the school.
To take responsibility for the sick bay and ensure that it is kept clean and tidy.
To maintain confidentiality of information acquired while undertaking duties for the school.
Record all first aid interventions daily and provide basis statistics to management as required,.for example, the number and type of first aid incidents in a school term etc.
Availability to all extra-curricular activities and events at the school
Adhere to and maintain school routines and codes of conduct.
Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of Diploma in Nursing
Good communication skills
At least 2 years’ experience
Should be aged 25 and above
Self-motivated, team player, innovative and result oriented.
