School Librarian

Duration: 1 year (renewable)

Positioning & Reporting

The School Librarian Officer will be working closely and report to the Deputy Head Teacher-Academics.

Job Description:

Loyola Jesuit Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented School Librarian Officer to manage the daily operations of our school library. The role focuses on maintaining the library’s collection, supporting students and teachers in their research needs, and promoting a culture of reading and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the school library’s resources, including acquisition, cataloging, and circulation of books and digital materials.
• Assist students and staff in locating information and using library resources effectively.
• Collaborate with teachers to support student learning through the integration of library services into the curriculum.
• Organize and lead library activities such as reading clubs, book fairs, and literacy programs.
• Ensure a welcoming, organized, and quiet study environment.
• Oversee library technology, including computers and research databases.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of educational trends, digital resources, and tools that enhance the learning experience.

Required Skills, Competencies, and Experience

Qualifications:

• Diploma in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a school or academic library setting.
•  Proficiency in library management systems and digital research tools.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for fostering a love of reading and learning among students.
