SCHOOL CLINICIAN

Duration: 1 year (renewable)

Job Description:

Loyola Jesuit Secondary School in Malawi is seeking a compassionate and skilled School Clinician to provide high-quality healthcare services to our students and staff. The clinician will be responsible for managing the school clinic, ensuring the well-being of all members of the school community, and promoting health education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid, basic medical care, and health counseling to students and staff.
  • Diagnose and treat common illnesses and minor injuries.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and manage student health records.
  • Coordinate with external medical professionals and facilities for more serious cases.
  • Promote preventive health measures and conduct regular health checks (e.g., vaccinations, wellness education, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked clinic with appropriate medical supplies.
  • Monitor and manage any chronic health conditions of students (e.g., asthma, diabetes).
  • Organize health workshops and training for students, staff, and parents on topics such as hygiene, mental health, and disease prevention.

Reporting Lines:

Reports To:

Deputy Head Teacher of Administration for operational and administrative functions of the clinic.

Collaborates With:

Counseling Staff on mental health support and overall student wellness. Teachers and Staff to identify students with health concerns and coordinate their care.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or a related field. Registered and licensed to practice in Malawi.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting, preferably with young people.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent health.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle medical emergencies calmly.
