Project Hope

Project Hope Namibia in Malawi (PHN-MA) seeks qualified Malawian candidate to fill various positions for the USAID funded Ana ndi Achinyamata Patsogolo Activity (ANAPA) Project, a project aimed at preventing new HIV infections and improve the health wellbeing and Protection of Children, Adolescents, their families and Young Women (CAFYW) living with, affected by and vulnerable to HIV. ANAPA will be implemented in high HIV burdened nine districts in Malawi (Blantyre, Chikwawa, Lilongwe, Machinga, Mangochi, Mulanje, Phalombe, Thyolo and Zomba). The program focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Adolescent Boys and Young Men (ABYM). The approach is also including but not limited to System Strengthening, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in close collaboration with Government of Malawi (GoM).

Job Summary: “SASA!” means “NOW!” in Kiswahili, emphasizing the urgent need to prevent violence against women. SASA! Is also an acronym for it four phases: Start, Awareness, Support and Action. The coordinator will lead the roll out and monitoring of SASA! program (Sasa! Faith and Sasa! Together) in his/her District. SASA! Coordinator reports to District Team Leader.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead the development of site level work plan and implementation of SASA! Together and Sasa! Faith.

  • Promote the SASA! component of ANAPA using various platforms.

  • Identify catchment areas (Traditional Authorities) suitable for implementation of SASA!

  • Support mapping of selected communities to identify service providers with a focus on violence prevention and mitigation.

  • Support to strengthen the referral linkage system.

  • Lead the identification of Community Activists (CAs) and Community Leaders (CLs) and formation of Community Action Groups

  • Organize monthly SASA! Together review meetings.

  • Work closely with the District MEL Officers and District Data Entry Clerks to collect data, analyze data and use data for decision making using the following SASA!

Minimum Qualifications, experience and required skills:

• Diploma in social work, gender studies, community development, public health, or a related field. Those with bachelor’s degree is a plus.

• At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization, participatory learning and facilitation approaches, behavior change interventions and related fields.

• Previous work experience on prevention of violence against women has an advantage.
