Overview of Role.

Responsible for identifying and meeting customer needs within the allotted sales territory (Software or Hardware), maintaining good after-sales relationships, keeping records of customer appointments, and completed sales, and providing detailed information on the products they are selling. Equally important to the role is the regular update product knowledge, as well as honing and developing selling techniques. The most successful consultants provide a personalised service to their customers, establishing trust and taking a non-confrontational approach to selling.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Searching for opportunities using e-tender, leads to business, supply chain network and online tenders.

  • Preparing documentation for tender submissions (expressions of interest and proposals: RFI, RFP, RFQ).

  • Quotation for tenders and pricing.

  • Compiling Proposals for submissions to prospective clients.

  • Responsible for management of tender process from receipt to delivery.

  • Assessment of relevance and analysis of requirements prior to procurement of tender documents.

  • Compiling project experience for tender submissions.

  • Attend tender briefing meetings.

  • Collate tender documents which includes, all related pre-qualification and questionnaires-

  • Ensure that tenders are of a high standard in terms of quality and completeness.

  • Check validity of compliance supporting documents e.g., BEE, Tax Clearance and COIDA

  • Ensure that tender submissions represent the best possible response in terms of specifications.

  • Update tender register and follow-up tenders,

  • Maintain traceability of electronic and hard copy material.

  • Provide updates and progress reports on submitted tenders.

  • Ensure the up-to-date status of all commercial documents including but not limited to Tax Clearance and BEE certificate.

  • Provide support to Operations and general Administration department as and when required.

  • Find out prospective customers/clients and new target segment and penetrate sales in that area.

  • Convert leads to sales through good communication, follow-ups and positive attitude.

  • Work closely with customers throughout the sales process.

  • Foster a successful relationship endearing the customer to their business.

  • Handle any enquires produced by the client, investigate the issue and provide the necessary feedback.

  • Work hard to network and negotiate with potential clients about their orders, generating revenue for the company.

  • Depending on area of responsibility, process customer orders in a timely manner, ensuring the clients approval.

  • Work closely with other departments and teams, such as presales, support, accounting and marketing.

  • Use sales applications (CRM and Sales Force Automation) to update client information and requests.

  • Often schedule appointments for sales representative and other consultants.

  • Leverage cross-selling and up-selling techniques.

  • Recommend complementary products and services and share details about volume discounts and special offers.

  • Build a strong sales pipeline.

  • Identify customers who may purchase products and services on a future date, and plan and schedule follow-up communication

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration or related field.

  • Excellent IT skills including competence with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in particular).

  • Minimum 1-year related experience (references will be contacted).

  • 1-3 years Bid management and sales

  • Strong marketing, administration, organisational and inter-personal skills

  • Desirable experience of proposal writing

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.

  • Providing general sales support.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise within a busy workload.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Preferred

  • Thorough understanding of the IT industry

  • Demonstrable management of a rapidly growing business
