National Initiative for Civic Education

The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) was established in 1999, in 2012 NICE become a Public Trust incorporated under the Public Trustees Act 1968. The overall objective of NICE as an independent and autonomous Trust is to contribute towards strengthening and deepening of democratic process and improved governance in Malawi for accelerated economic growth and poverty reduction.

NICE is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following existing vacant position.

POSITION : RESOURCE MOBILISATION AND INVESTMENT OFFICER

Job Title: Resource Mobilisation and Investment Officer
Grade: NC4
Location: NICE Secretariat Lilongwe
Reporting to: Planning and Development Manager
Responsible for: None

Purpose of the Job

The Resource Mobilization Investment Officer will play a crucial role in securing financial resources, building partnerships, and enhancing NICE’s sustainability. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for Civic Education and a proven track record in resource mobilization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with NICE leadership to create a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  2. Identify potential funding sources, including government agencies, international donors, private foundations, and corporate partners.
  3. Develop targeted approaches to engage potential investors and secure financial support.
  4. Prepare compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
  5. Conduct thorough research to identify relevant funding opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with program managers to ensure alignment between project proposals and donor priorities.
  7. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and philanthropic organizations.
  8. Attend conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote NICE’s work and explore collaboration opportunities.
  9. Facilitate partnerships that enhance NICE’s visibility and impact.
  10. Develop investment pitches and presentations to attract potential investors.
  11. Engage with existing donors to strengthen relationships and explore additional funding avenues.
  12. Monitor donor expectations and reporting requirements.
  13. Work closely with -the finance team to ensure effective financial management and accountability.
  14. Explore innovative funding models, such as impact investing and social enterprise partnerships.
  15. Contribute to NICE’s long-term financial stability.
  16. Track progress against resource mobilization targets.
  17. Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, successes, and challenges. xvili. Provide updates to NICE’s management and board.

Minimum Education Qualification and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration/ Business Development, development studies, International Relations, and Economics
  2. Proven experience (not less than three years) in resource mobilization, fundraising, or investment promotion.
  3. Be able to produce evidence of a minimum of at least three successful proposals developed and successfully funded.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Strong networking abilities and relationship-building expertise.
  6. Familiarity with civic education programs, governance, human rights and community development.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
