VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is a comprehensive health and allied sciences higher learning institution established with the primary function of training health workers and conduct health research. The Center of Excellency in Ethics and Governance (CEEG) is a within the School of Global and Public Health (SOGAPH) at KUHeS. This funding from Bill and Melinda Foundation, is aimed at producing a book by research on ethical clashes and consideration in emerging health technologies and their impact on global health outcomes. The goal is to explore the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies in global health, with a particular emphasis on the disparities between high-income and low-income countries. The CEEG would therefore like to engage a research fellow to undertake this research.

Position Title: Research Fellow

Location: Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, Lilongwe

Job Type: Full-time

Duration: One year

Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Fellow to conduct research on the ethical dimensions of emerging technologies in global health, focusing on disparities between high-income and low-income countries. The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field, experience in qualitative research methods, and strong analytical and Scientific writing skills. They will conduct key informant interviews, analyze and interpret data, and present findings in a clear and accessible manner. Qualification ethics will be an added advantage. The Research Fellow will contribute to the development of publications and presentations, and have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge research project in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct original research under the guidance of the principal investigator.
  • Develop and implement a qualitative research design.
  • Conduct key informant interviews with stakeholders.
  • Analyze and interpret data using thematic analysis and content analysis.
  • Present findings in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Contribute to the development of a scholarly book, peer-reviewed journal articles, policy briefs, and presentations.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g., global/Public health, ethics, technology studies).
  • Experience in qualitative research methods.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively both locally and internationally.
  • Interest in ethical issues related to emerging technologies in global health.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in conducting research.
  • Familiarity with ethical frameworks and principles.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
