REGISTERED NURSE MIDWIFE

Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Registered Nurse Midwife tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.

Position Context

Reporting to Unit Nursing and Midwifery Manager, the Registered Nurse Midwife will assist the Nursing and Midwifery team in their daily tasks. He/she will be directly involved in rendering nursing and midwifery care to patients.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Provide safe quality and comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery care in accordance with hospital standard and policies.
• Responsible for direct and/or indirect Nursing and Midwifery care of patients.
• Carry out doctors’ orders timely and correctly;
• Practice within scope of Registered Nurse Midwife.
• Compliance of the infection prevention and control standards
• Conducts admission and discharge of patients;
• Participate in Quality Improvement teams of the hospital;
• Participates in binning and billing of the services offered;
• Performs administration of medications correctly;
• Communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Unit Nursing and Midwifery Manager from time to time.

 

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Must have a University Diploma in Nursing and midwifery from a recognized Institution.
• Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
• Must have a good MSCE certificate including English and Mathematics.
• Must be computer literate and have three years relevant post qualification experience in a busy hospital environment
• Must be willing to work odd hours.

Requisite knowledge, Abilities and skill

• Good command of English and fluency in other Malawian local languages
• Must be a self-starter, pro-active and honest.
• Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
