The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) is inviting applications from suitably qualifi ed, highly motivated, and experienced individuals to be considered for the following vacant positions in various establishments of the University:
Registered Nurse
a. Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients, administering medications, and off ering educational support to patients and their families. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the overall well-being of students, staff , and the surrounding community.
b. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including patient assessments, care plans, and treatment administration.
- Monitor and record patients’ health status, including vital signs and symptoms.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by clinical off icers and other medical professionals.
- Assist in minor procedures and patient care under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and preventative healthcare practices.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and ensure proper documentation in line with institutional and medical standards.

institutional and medical standards. - Collaborate with clinical off icers, laboratory technicians, and other medical professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in institutional health promotion and education programs.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide fi rst aid or urgent care as needed.
c. Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Attributes
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related fi eld from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong patient care and clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
Terms and Conditions of Engagement
All the successful candidates will be engaged on an initial 2-year contract before they can be
considered for permanent appointment based on satisfactory performance. Remuneration will be in line with LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service (2023) applicable to staff on fi xed-term contract.
