Malawi Electoral Commission

The Malawi Electoral Commission, “the Commission”, is a body corporate created under Section 75(1) of the Constitution, to supervise, direct and preside over the conduct of all elections in Malawi.

In accordance with Section 13 of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act, the Commission seeks to appoint a suitably qualified person with relevant experience to fill the following vacant position within its secretariat.

Job Title: Regional Elections Manager

Responsible to: :Chief Elections Officer
Location: Region Office – South

Key duties & responsibilities

  • General administration of the Malawi Electoral Commission Act and other electoral laws.
  • Providing technical advice to the head office on policy issues regarding operations of the regional office.
  • Managing human, material and financial resources at regional level as well as managing performance of staff in the Region,
  • Producing budgets for the regional office and regional election programmes.
  • Identifying registration and polling staff and organizing their training.
  • Designing and implementing regional logistics plans for registration and polling activities.
  • Supervising registration and polling process at regional level.
  • Receiving and processing registration and polling results in the region and transmitting them to the head office.
  • Receiving and classifying nominations of candidates from returning officers in the region for transmission to the head office.
  • Developing and monitoring linkages with relevant institutions and stakeholders at regional level.
  • Monitoring and evaluating performance of the regional and district offices.
  • Producing appropriate reports as required from time to time.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Education, Humanities, Management, or Development Studies with atleast three (3) years of relevant work experience in a senior position

Age: Between 35 to 55 years
